Track #117: Audio Description / The Mystery Of The Santa Justa Elevator

SUSANA MENDES SILVA / ABDUL MOIMÊME

The following performance was conceived by Susana Mendes Silva and Abdul Moimême, based on the “The Mystery Of The Santa Justa Elevator / The Strange Adventures of Dr. Z”, an original story by Reporter Z. The action takes place during the sombre years of the First World War, when Lisbon became the centre stage of international espionage. On a particularly still and moonless night a scream is heard in the Santa Justa elevator, when a newborn child is mysteriously abandoned by a group of sinister foreigners.

The performance belongs to a series of events organized by GRANULAR (the ‘Vinte e Sete Sentidos’ cycle) http://www.culturgest.pt/actual/02/18-audiodescription.html, conceived as an audio description for the non-visual whereby members of the audience were blindfolded.

Santa Justa Elevator: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Santa_Justa_Lift

Narrator: Susana Mendes Silva
Prepared guitars: Abdul Moimême
Recorded and mastered by Carlos Zingaro

track #110: Searching For Adam – Last Track

        SEARCHING FOR ADAM

Rodrigo Amado’s latest project is a multimedia blend that fuses pictures recently taken by the artist in New York, juxtaposed with improvised music of the highest calibre. The group’s most recent performance was held with the projection of numerous photographs as a visual backdrop. The quartet exhibited an outstanding rapport that lasted throughout the whole night. Here we catch them in a final moment, just before the encore.

Rodrigo Amado – tenor saxophone
Taylor Ho Bynum – cornet
John Hebert – double bass
Gerald Cleaver – drums

Recorded live at Culturgest, Lisbon, 19 September 2008
